Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Cotton Organic?

Organic cotton is the purest form of cotton, grown without toxins, synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or GMO’s (genetically modified organisms).

Sustainable and organic growing methods support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, improving the quality of the soil, using less water and helping to prevent groundwater pollution. Organic farmers rely on crop rotation to replenish and maintain soil fertility. Mechanical cultivation and botanical or biological means are used to control pests and weeds.

A field must be pesticide-free for at least three years to be certified organic, and the cotton must be processed according to international organic standards.

The standards also set strict guidelines for transportation and storage to avoid cross-contamination. In the U.S., cotton labeled as organic has to be certified by an independent agency recognized by the USDA's National Organic Program.

About Wool

Organic wool is also one of the most versatile and healthy choices for bedding or clothing. It is sensitive to your body's temperature - keeping you warm in winter and comfortable in summer.

Organic wool is naturally resistant to dust mites, molds, mildews and odors. Organic wool is almost entirely non-allergenic.

Organic wool is naturally resistant to flames, and will not "catch fire", and is the best way to guard against fire-related injuries. This makes wool one of the safest choices for toddler bedding, and is specifically used in organic bedding products. Unlike down bedding which shifts over time (ie. bare spots in a comforter), wool stays in place.

Natural wool is a traditional fill, used in bedding throughout the ages. Our grandmothers knew the many benefits that wool provides.

With proper care your woolen bedding can last for decades.

Wool draws moisture away from the body, keeping a layer of insulating dry air next to the skin leaving you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. A natural temperature regulator, wool's countless tiny coils are able to absorb moisture without feeling damp, drawing it away from your body so that it can evaporate. Wool is naturally flame retardant. Wool's crimpiness allows it to keep its resiliency. It cradles your body as you sleep and bounces back to it's original loft when you get out of bed?. Wool will provide the most dry, healthful and comfy sleeping surface for years on end.

Tips: How to Choose the Right Pillow...

It's important for proper neck support to choose the right pillow thickness.

Bed Pillow LIGHT: Recommended for people who sleep on their stomach.

Bed Pillow REGULAR: Recommended for people who sleep on their sides or back.

Bed Pillow EXTRA: Recommended for people who sleep on their sides or back.

You know yourself the best. If you are the kind of person who likes a thicker pillow try our EXTRA. Conversely, if you tend to favor a thinner pillow try our LIGHT. If neither the EXTRA or LIGHT pillows appeal to you, then you are better suited for our REGULAR.

Pillows may settle (up to 15%) until they conform to the weight of your head.

Tips: How much warmth do I need in a comforter?

To choose the proper temperature weight in a comforter, consider the following:

o What is your typical body temperature?

o Do you find yourself to be generally cold or warm?

o Do you tend to get cold at night or overheat?

o If you sleep with another person you will generate more heat than you would by yourself.

o Assess the bedding you already have at home. Do you want to rely on your comforter by itself to keep you warm or will you be using it in combination with other blankets?

Cool Comfort - This temperature weight is best suited for: a hot natured person, partner sleeping, or to be used in combination with other favorite blankets.

Perfect Comfort - This is a standard wool weight comforter suited for single or partner sleeping, or can be used in combination with other favorite blankets if needed.

Extra Warmth - This temperature weight is best suited for those who tend to get cold. Great for people who sleep by themselves and tend to like a lot of covers.

Can our wool bedding be machine washed?

Yes. All of our wool bedding can be machine washed using specific parts of your machine's washing cycle. We provide detailed washing instructions with your product. You will need a machine that allows you to change the settings once it has already begun. Many of the new front loader machines will not work because they do not let you manipulate the cycle once it has begun. If you only have a front loader, your best bet is to find a good friend and use theirs. If you do not follow the instructions correctly, your bedding will turn into felt!
